Caron shares her story
“I feel much better now.” Caron, 55 - Police Principal
Caron works for the largest police department in the United States, responsible for overseeing the civilian employees in one of the department’s seventy-seven precincts spread across the five boroughs of New York City. She lives on an upper floor of a high-rise standing on one of the main thoroughfares running through Brooklyn. There are elevators in her building, but Caron prefers to take the stairs.
Caron Continues...
All of which is to say this 55-year-old woman is pretty much a no-nonsense individual. Although when you take the time to listen to her tell her story, you discover there’s another side of the Caron coin. She’s also an evangelist dedicated to spreading the message called the Golden Rule.
“I’m what’s called a Principal and it means I’m the boss of 20 to 25 civilians in my precinct,” she says, adding that she’s been an employee of the department for 13 years.
“I try to watch what I eat and I eliminate sugar as much as possible.” Caron says. “And I definitely try and get a little exercise.” That’s when she takes a moment to explain she doesn’t spend a lot of her time walking around her neighborhood but does take the stairs in her high-rise. She doesn’t have to add that at seven floors up, that’s a lot of cardio.
When asked what else she does with her life besides managing the civilian work force of a precinct in a very large and widely known police department, Caron flips the coin of her story and says, “Well, I'm also what you call an evangelist in my church. I’m like a minister preaching and teaching other people about Christ.”
Then she brings the two sides of her story together, saying, “I live by the motto, you know, love your neighbors as you love yourself. That’s really on top of my list of how to live in this world, just, you know, loving everyone, treating everyone with dignity as what they can expect of me.”
About two years ago, Caron began to notice mild memory issues, as can happen with aging. She continues, “So I chose Prevagen, but I don't know if I did because of a commercial or if it was an advertisement on social media.” “I feel much better now.”
For this person with a lot of responsibility involving people in the biggest police department in the country, that’s a good thing. And as for her work as an evangelist in the biggest city in the country, that’s probably an even bigger good thing.
