Randal shares his story
“I noticed a difference. I said to myself, this is wonderful.”
Randal, 77 - Retired Energy Industry Scientist and Model Train Enthusiast
Randal and his wife are home in Texas these days. He’s retired from a long career in the oil industry that took him to many distant corners of the world where he put his scientific mind to good use.
“I'm a scientist,” he explains as he reflects on his years in the oil fields of the world. “I was the lead scientist in a Texas energy company. I built the first laboratory that they ever had in their company. They had never had modern science labs and so I did that.”
The 77-year-old continues, “In my years in the energy business, I worked all over the world, North Africa, Indonesia. We lived in Jakarta, Indonesia for three years, worked all over Indonesia.”
Randal earned his Bachelor of Science degree in geology with a minor in archeology from a New Mexico university, then followed that up with a Master’s in geology and a minor in metallurgy at one of the top schools in Texas.
Given that all this education took place in two of the leading oil-producing states in the country, it was probably logical that his geological expertise would eventually take him to places all over the world where oil is somewhere down there below the surface of the earth. But it actually was the United States Navy that first took Randal abroad. He signed up and saw a lot of water in the Atlantic Ocean and Mediterranean Sea before he began his academic training in geology.
Now those days are behind him, and Randal and his wife are settled down in the Texas town of Tomball a short drive north of Houston. He and his wife are active in their community and he attends a Bible Study class and serves as a church Deacon.
Every year, for instance, Randal and a team of fellow church members who are also model train enthusiasts build a large model train display on behalf of their church for the entertainment of kids of all ages during the Christmas holidays.
As fulfilling his life has been both before and after retiring, Randal began to sense some minor issues with his memory. “I began to experience some minor issues, and so I started taking Prevagen because of your ads on TV. I thought oh shoot. I’ll try it, and I noticed a difference. I said to myself, this is wonderful. I told my wife and I told all my friends. I have seventy-five people in my Bible Study class, and I tell them all to take Prevagen.”
