Becky Shares Her Story

A whole lot of veterinarians in eastern Iowa and western Illinois know that when this 68-year-old pet food saleswoman from Iowa City calls on them, they probably should pay attention. Becky not only knows her business, she’s downright passionate about it.

What Becky sells is a science-based product line of dog and cat food that vets can suggest pet-owners use to help their animals live a healthier and maybe even a longer life. “I believe in the product, about the science and the research behind our products,” she says. “I’m very proud of our company and I’m passionate about nutrition and about animals.”

“I’ve had a lot of success. I think I’ve been the Most Valuable Player (MVP) on our team about six times,” Becky adds. “We have a new product that’s a diet for dermatology for dogs and I’m number two or number three in the whole country of over 100+ reps. Last year we had a urinary diet that helps cats not be so stressed out, and I was number one in the nation for that product.”

The kicker to this success story is that Becky has been selling these pet food products for about 22 years. “I’m definitely the oldest on our team. I spend a lot of money on hair color and exercise,” she says with a laugh. “And I can’t be shy or forgetful. I’ve got to be on my game.”

About a year ago, Becky and her husband began experiencing something that can often happen to people. “My husband is nine years older than I am and we joke about coming into a room and we can’t remember what we came in for,” she reports.
