Four Common Exercise Mistakes

Exercising regularly is one of the best things you can do for better physical and brain health. Any day you work out is a good day, but it’s always essential to make sure you’re tackling a workout without making big exercise mistakes. Some of the common exercise mistakes are made by many people, whether you’re a workout junkie or someone new to the exercise game. We’ve picked out a few of the biggies and how you can avoid them next time you work out.

Mistake #1 – Failing to Warm Up and Cool Down

Both warming up and cooling down are essential, and many people just dive into their exercise routine and drop to the couch when they’re done. Warming up helps you get the body ready for exercise and helps prevent injury, while cooling down can promote recovery and minimize muscle soreness. Focus on doing some moving warmups before you work out, such as jumping jacks, marching in place, or walking, and cool down doing some static stretches for a minute or two when you’re done.

Mistake #2 – Forgetting to Stretch

Speaking of stretching…spending some time stretching before and after your workout can increase range of motion, flexibility, and reduce tension. Many people gloss over this exercise mistake completely. Stretching doesn’t just have to be right before your workout either. Try stretching when you wake up, before bed, or between work calls to get up from your desk.

Mistake #3 – Not Focusing on Your Form

Have you ever had neck pain after doing crunches or pain in your back after doing squats? It could be because you’re not focusing on your form. Rushing through exercises without focusing on proper movement can lead to injury. No matter what type of exercise you’re doing, learning proper form and focusing on it every time can help you prevent long-term injuries.

Mistake #4 – Failure to Rest and Recover

Another huge exercise mistake is failing to rest and recover after workouts. Rest is essential to effective workouts. The more intense you’re going during exercise, the great your need for recovery. Drink plenty of water after a workout, have a post-exercise snack, and take some time to rest.

Avoiding these common exercise mistakes can help you make the most out of your workouts. And before you work out, be sure to take your Prevagen supplement so you get the brain health benefits for you go work your body.
