The Best Grocery Shopping Tips

One of the best ways to make sure you’re eating healthy is to shop smart at the grocery store. Your healthy diet starts there! What can you do to save time, money and ensure you come home with the healthiest foods? Go armed with the best grocery shopping tips to help out.

Tip #1 – Don’t Go Shopping Hungry
If you head to the store and you’re feeling hungry, you’re going to start reaching for all the junk foods in sight. Make sure you have a meal or snack before heading to the grocery store, which makes it easier to avoid tempting foods you don’t really need.

Tip #2 – Shop the Perimeter of the Store
The perimeter of the store is where you’ll find produce, meats and seafood, and dairy products. Start wandering down those interior aisles and you’ll come across the more processed foods. If you want to stick with healthier foods, stick to the perimeter.

Tip #3 – Go Armed with a List
While you might think you’ll remember everything you need, if you don’t have a list it’s easy to forget items. It’s also easier to grab things you don’t need if you don’t shop with a list to guide you.

Tip #4 – Know When to Shop
It’s important to know what days you should shop. Most days are fine, but Sunday afternoon is one of the most crowded times at the food store. It’s not fun to battle crowds and long lines, much less dealing with picked-over sale racks or produce bins. You’ll also want to avoid shopping midday on any day. Shop in the morning or evening when produce is replenished due to deliveries.

Tip #5 – Purchase In-Season Produce
When you’re buying fresh produce, go with in-season options. You’ll not only save some money, but you’ll get nutrient-packed fruits and vegetables while supporting local businesses. It’s a win-win!

Next time you head to the grocery store, go armed with these grocery shopping tips. They’ll help you shop healthy so you can eat healthy. Along with a healthy diet, be sure to take your pharmacist-recommended Prevagen supplement daily to give your memory and brain health a boost.
